Etiquette and Its Origin

Centuries ago, people used to hold their pinkies out when sipping on tea. This was due to the absence of handles on the cups; since the water was hot, fewer fingers resting on a cup meant fewer fingers getting burnt. However, despite the handles attached to cups these days, this tradition has been slow to die off.
